Al-Kholood beat Al-Shabab 2–1 at Ar-Rass on September 9 in Saudi Pro League Matchweek 6. Roger Martínez put Al-Shabab ahead after six minutes, Iker Kortajarena equalized before halftime, and Abdulrahman Al-Dosari scored the winner in the 87th minute.

An early lead without lasting control

Martínez opened the scoring from a J. Brownhill assist, according to FOX Sports’ match timeline. It was arguably Al-Shabab’s brightest moment. The Sports Encounter reported 13 Al-Kholood shots, six on target, against six shots and three on target for Al-Shabab, with possession split 52–48% in the home side’s favor. The early lead did not translate into control of the game.

Kortajarena equalized in the first half, not stoppage time

The equalizer came in the 30th minute: Al-Kholood took 24 minutes to respond, then the score remained 1–1 until the 87th. Over that long level spell, the shot totals suggest Al-Kholood continued to pose the greater attacking threat, even though a second goal took almost the entire match to arrive.

The 87th-minute goal changed both teams’ outlook

Al-Dosari’s winner lifted Al-Kholood to sixth. For Al-Shabab, the result carried more weight than a single defeat: according to The Sports Encounter, they remained winless after six games and dropped to 16th. That standings context explains why one late moment felt so significant in a troubled start to the season.

Three numbers to remember

A 13–6 shot advantage, 52–48% possession, and an 87th-minute winner tell a consistent story: Al-Kholood generated more pressure for much of the match but needed patience to turn it into a second goal.
